Most high performers struggle with this
If you’re goal-driven and hard on yourself, this might resonate.
You set targets. You push hard. You expect results. And when you don’t hit them on time, the self-talk kicks in:
“I should have…”
“What’s wrong with me?”
“Maybe I’m not good enough.”
I know this pattern well.
When I started building my business, I kept hearing: “Enjoy the process.”
But what I heard was:
“Be okay with slower progress.”
That didn’t sit right with me.
My goals are:
Clients. Growth. Impact. Profitability
So when those didn’t move fast enough,
it felt like I wasn’t progressing.
But the truth is: I am progressing.
I am building something useful.
I am training a group of apprentice.
I am getting better at my craft.
I am learning entrepreneurship.
That’s when it clicked:
THIS is “enjoying the process”.
I just need to track it better.
Two scoreboards:
Outcomes — clients, growth, impact, profitability
Process — Am I creating a helpful product? Am I transferring my knowledge? Am I improving? Am I building a sustainable business?
BOTH are progress.
✌🏼 Track both.
